If you like riding on group tours then it might be handy to have an helmet intercom, or bluetooth phone connection.
We’ve found that sometimes on tour the lead rider might want to warn about a hazard ahead, or tell everyone that a fuel/rest stop is coming up etc. It saves on hand-waving if you can communicate via intercom and if you often carry a pillion passenger when on a motorbike tour, then it’s great to be able to chat as you see the sights.
The Interphone F5 has a 1.5 mile range, and can link up to six riders, so it is perfect for a group trip to a big race meeting like Assen, Brno or Le Mans.
One flick of the button and you can switch between Bluetooth, music channel or intercom. The device fits inside a full or open face lid and there’s a built-in FM radio with 8 pre-set station memory.
If a call comes in it has a voice command menu, so you don’t have to learn what a series of beeps and noises means. It finds other headsets automatically, there’s no `pairing’ sequence to set up.
The Interphone F5 retails at £349 for a pair of headsets and Motohaus do the distribution in the UK. You can call them on 01256 704 909 – say MCi Tours sent you, it spreads the word on our blog.
